Bio

Adam Rocco (B. 1978) is an independent conceptual artist, painter, sculptor, writer, impressionist, intellectual, entrepreneur, and collector. Rocco holds a BS in Finance from the University of Maryland at College Park. He became interested in the pursuit of fine arts ten years ago as a means of self expression; moreover, art for Rocco has become a retaliatory coping mechanism against what he has come to experience and label the “self conscious, shallow-expressive, politically correct, or otherwise conformist” corporate, political, and cultural modern mainstream. It is in this “desperate void” that Rocco chooses to execute in the chosen medium, nearing “obsessive compulsive lengths” in pursuit of balance, free form subconscious integrity, and modern relevance.

Rocco’s artistic credentials include family lineage consisting of capable artists, sculptors, and playwrights. They also include formal coursework in drawing, painting, and European sculpture from the Art League of Long Island (2001), and several live-work studies under the auspices of abstract painter(s) Jonas Gerard and Jerry Marder. Rocco is most influenced by modern masters Picasso, Rothko, Giacometti, Bacon, Calder, and Hirst. Rocco currently lives and works in Nassau County, Long Island. Rocco’s current sculpture tour consisting of several small individual clay works exemplifies the artist’s obsession with the figurative form, with emphasis on the human face. In the artist’s own words, "And the clay will expose the subconscious and interpersonal. It will call into question traditional notions of the human visage and figurative form in general."
Rocco opens his fall tour at Townhouse Art Gallery Brooklyn. Please ask about individual sculpture pricing and availability.
